AFSIS is designed for use by veterinary public health authorities and by food safety and quality professionals.
Under the leadership and editorial direction of Dr. Apostolos Rantsios, a highly experienced, multidisciplinary team from ten European countries is engaged in continuous review and update of AFSIS content. AFSIS takes a holistic approach From Farm to Fork. It has four substantial sections:
The AFSIS portal offers many extra resources, including an introduction to HACCP, selected texts of national and international regulations, such as codex alimentarius and EU Directives, related publications, video clips and a glossary. A search facility enables rapid information retrieval. The numerous, rich colour photographs and illustrations will be of particular value to meat inspectors.
